The headline on The Accelus website reads "Navigating the Marketing Maze". It says that because that's what you have to do as a business owner. It's a separate discipline that many don't consider enough when they first start out. Trust me, it's easy to understand why.
There are so many things to take care of; all of the legal, inventory, employees, website, it goes on and on.
In retrospect one of the first things you should do is analyze who your target market is, how you plan to communicate with them, and what your message is going to be. Most new business owners concentrate on their products and services, and don't think about their Brand and Targeted Marketing efforts. Like I mentioned earlier, this is understandable considering everything that's goes on when establishing a new venture. Your business plan (hopefully you have one) should indicate your target market and how you plan to reach them. Please don't wait for everything else to be done. That would be a big mistake.
Having a marketing plan included within your overall business plan is a necessity in order to see a complete picture, including what is needed (from a marketing perspective) to be successful. Planning is the key to everything.
